Note: The blog below includes information from the Sauermann Group`s Kimo brand. A recognised leader of portable and fixed measurement equipment for over 30 years, Kimo provides a wide range of measuring solutions for pressure, temperature, humidity, air velocity, airflow, gas analysis, air quality, sound level, and other parameters. In 2015, Kimo joined the Sauermann Group. The Group operates three main brands: Sauermann for condensate removal pumps (including accessories and solution kits) and instruments for improving indoor air quality, as well as Kimo and E Instruments for instruments aimed at measuring and monitoring air parameters.

INsights recently talked with SK Yoo, the Director of KIMAG Technologies in Malaysia.

KIMAG Technologies started as a company in Malaysia selling measuring instruments for clean rooms. Later it expanded to provide HVACR contractors with instruments for air conditioning installations.

During this time, there was a lot of growth. However, in recent years, industrial growth has slowed down somewhat although there are still plenty of opportunities in Malaysia for KIMAG to expand its presence in the commercial and medical sectors, as well as expand a wide array of comprehensive services to its customers.

Throughout these time periods, the most popular Kimo instruments in Malaysia have been portables, transmitters and data loggers.

They have been actively working with Kimo for nearly eight years. In addition to selling a wide variety of Kimo products, they also provide repair and calibration services. In fact, they often buy parts from Kimo, so they can provide quick and timely repair services to their clients in Malaysia.

This care and attention to strong customer service has resulted in Kimo instruments becoming popular with customers in Malaysia, especially  higher-end products such as the CPE 310 flushmount multifunction pressure sensor, the C310 multifunction sensor, DEBIMO airflow measuring blades, and KISTOCK dataloggers.

Even with industrialization slowing, there are a number of sectors where demand for indoor air quality instruments is steadily rising such as life sciences, biotech, etc., and these sectors are quite strong in Southeast Asia and Malaysia.

Malaysia, like a lot of countries in Asia, is a price-conscious market. SK believes there is an opportunity to sell increasing numbers of lower to mid-range products as well. With the Internet of Things also becoming more popular and widespread, customers will demand more connected devices in the future, especially for transmitters and dataloggers.

KIMAG hopes to sell more of these connected devices and expand their presence in numerous sectors.  And, of course, selling more and more Kimo and Sauermann Group products!
