Three Options for Evacuating your Boiler Condensate

boiler

In most installations condensate can be removed through normal gravity drains. However, if a boiler has to be installed on internal walls or within basements, the use of a boiler condensate tank pump or soak away can be the only solution for the installer.

In response to questions from some HVAC newcomers and installers, we have created a video that answers many commonly-asked questions on installing a condensate removal tank pump, discharge options, suitable accessories for fittings, connecting safety wires, and knowing about safety switches.

This video explains how to install a Sauermann Si-1802 centrifugal tank pump in any boiler setting. It also explains the different condensate discharge options available with the help of various accessories.

The three discharge options are:

  1. Condensate discharge above the level of the pump.
Required accessories: clamps, elbow connector, straight connector, drain fitting.
  2. Horizontal discharge using an overflow pipe.
Required accessories: clamps, elbow connector, straight connector, straight reducer and drain fitting.
  3. Condensate discharge below pump level.
Required accessories: Clamps, elbow connector, drain safe device and drain fitting.

Wiring is one of the important parts of the installation process. Installers are required to know the wiring for each device with respect to the options available in the basement/room setting. In this video, the whole process of wiring and safety measures are explained during the installation process.

With winter fast approaching and with boilers often being used frequently during these cooler months, protect your boiler or furnace systems by using the best neutraliser possible! Check out our article on neutralising acidic condensate.
