Personal safety and quality of finish
The spray booth is an essential piece of equipment for protecting operators against the risks associated with inhaling solvent particles and vapours. Measurements of air pressure, velocity and flow rate enable the effectiveness of its ventilation to be checked.
A safe industrial working environment requires strict monitoring of ventilation and air filtration within these cabins. Sauermann offers all the measurement solutions needed to guarantee precise control of air parameters to ensure the safety and quality of operations.

Cabin Ventilation
Cabin Ventilation
The NF EN 16985 standard sets out strict requirements for ventilation efficiency, which goes some way to ensuring the safety of paint booths. Propeller or hot-wire anemometers must be of the highest measurement accuracy, with sensitivity adapted to low air speeds.
A homogeneous, unpolluted air flow must surround the operator to protect him. The air flow must be sustained. Moreover, air recycling is prohibited. Kimo Class 110 measuring instruments are accurate and reliable enough to monitor these critical parameters in paint booths.
Target Values
Target Values
Horizontally ventilated cabins require an average air velocity greater than 0.5 m/s, with no measuring point below 0.4 m/s. Vertical cabins require an average air speed of at least 0.30 m/s at 1 metre from the floor, with no point below 0.25 m/s.
Accurate assessment of the average velocity requires measurements at a minimum of 9 points evenly distributed over the cross-section of the grille. The final average velocity value is calculated by averaging the velocities measured in each defined zone, thus guaranteeing good diffusion of the airflow in the cabin.
Air Filtration
Air Filtration
Filtration of polluted air is required to protect the immediate environment of paint booths. Differential pressure sensors continuously monitor the clogging of the air filters, so that they can be replaced at optimum preventive intervals.
The CP 25 liquid column manometer is specially designed for visual monitoring of filter clogging in paint booths. An electronic sensor like the PST-12 also provides visual and audio alarms in the event of filter saturation, and the CP 110 will transmit its measurements to a monitoring system.
Metrological services
Metrological services
Accurate and reliable measurements are crucial to guaranteeing the reliability and energy efficiency of paint booths. Rigorous metrological monitoring is essential to prevent any drift in measuring equipment, whether fixed or portable.
In its French laboratories, Sauermann offers a complete verification, calibration, adjustment and certification service for anemometers from 0.15 m/s, as well as for pressure, temperature, humidity and air flow to optimise the performance of ventilation systems.
